Challenge 1: Select or Create an Instructional Design Process Based on the Nature of the Project

Artifact: Case Study Analysis developed for EDCI 672: Advanced Practices in Learning Systems Design (Summer 2026).

Reflection: As part of EDCI 672: Advanced Practices in Learning Systems Design (Summer 2026), I analyzed an authentic instructional design case study using the ADDIE instructional design model to evaluate the designer's decisions, identify instructional design challenges, and recommend evidence-based solutions. Applying a systematic design process helped me distinguish instructional design issues from project constraints, connect design decisions to instructional theory, and justify recommendations using scholarly literature. This experience strengthened my ability to select and apply an instructional design process to analyze complex learning problems and develop practical, learner-centered solutions.

Systematic Design

Challenge 2: Specify and Sequence Anticipated Learning and Performance Outcomes.

Artifact: Project Proposal developed for EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026).

Reflection: As part of EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026), I developed a project proposal for an eLearning module designed to support elementary school personnel working with students who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). The proposal required me to identify clear learning and performance outcomes and sequence them into a logical instructional progression that would guide the overall design of the course. Establishing these outcomes early in the design process strengthened my ability to organize instruction systematically and create a foundation for the storyboard and subsequent development of the final eLearning module.

Challenge 3 (option A) : Identify Instructional Strategies that Align with Instructional Goals and Anticipated Learning Outcomes

Artifact: Design Document developed for EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026).

Reflection: As part of EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026), I developed a comprehensive design document that identified instructional strategies aligned with the instructional goals and anticipated learning outcomes for an AAC communication partner eLearning module. Based on the learning objectives, I selected instructional strategies such as demonstrations, scenario-based learning, guided practice, learner reflection, and formative assessments to support meaningful learning and skill development. This experience strengthened my ability to determine appropriate instructional strategies based on instructional goals and develop learning experiences that effectively support anticipated learning outcomes.

Challenge 4 (option C) :  Apply Appropriate Interaction Design and Interactive Learning Principles

Artifact: Final eLearning Module developed for EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026).

Reflection: As part of EDCI 569: Introduction to eLearning (Summer 2026), I designed and developed an interactive eLearning module that incorporated interaction design principles to promote learner engagement and an effective user experience. The module included interactive tabs, hotspot activities, drag-and-drop exercises, scenario-based learning, and formative knowledge checks that encouraged active participation while reinforcing instructional goals. Careful attention was given to navigation, layout, and interface design to create an intuitive and efficient learning experience. This project strengthened my ability to apply interaction design and interactive learning principles that enhance learner engagement and support instructional effectiveness.
